The Forcone Basin is considered by some to be the masterpiece of Zanobi
del Rosso, who is also responsible for the Kaffeehaus.
The basin itself was executed in 1777-78, while the terraces surrounding it
are from the 17th century. Here originally was a nursery for the gardens.
The pond collects water from an aqueduct and the water is used to irrigate
the gardens. In the middle of the pond is a bronze statue of
Neptune by Stoldo
Lorenzi, dating from 1571.
