In 1973, the Porcelain Museum was installed in the Casino del Cavaliere, seen in the background.
The museum is a small jewel for those who appreciate such things. It holds a collection of porcelain vases
and figurines dating from the 18th century, and collected by the Medici, the Savoy, the Bourbons of Parma, and the
Hapsburg-Lorraine who ruled Tuscany after the extinction of the Medici line in 1737. The double staircase leading up
to the Garden was one of the final modifications to the Gardens, laid out by Giuseppe del Rosso from 1790 to 1793. At
the time these panoramic images were taken, the staircase was under restauration.
