"Oceano" by Giambologna, 1576. White marble. The large bowl beneath it is
made of granite from Elba Island, sculpted by Tribolo in 1550. At the feet
of Oceano are three figures representing the Nile, Ganges and Euphrates Rivers.
The Oceano seen here is an early 20th century copy; the original resides in
the Bargello museum. On the small island, which preserves its original design,
are about 200 citrus trees. More recently, a collection of antique rose plants
was reconstructed.
